김가민은 사진 매체를 기반으로 활동하는 시각 예술가로, 이야기가 구축되고 해석되는 과정에 주목하며 장기 프로젝트에 집중해 오고 있다. 그녀의 작업 세계는 사진적 이미지의 해석에 관한 연구인 < 잠상 >(2016–2018), 제주의 무속 문화를 탐구한 < 기메 그리고, 49일 >(2017–2023), 그리고 제주 4·3 사건을 소재로 한 현재 진행 중인 < Evidence : 증언 >(2019– )을 아우른다. 김가민은 제주 4·3평화재단 기관지인 『4·3과 평화』의 편집위원(2020–2022)을 역임했다.
Gamin Kim is a visual artist who utilizes photography as her primary medium, focusing on long-term projects that explore the processes through which narratives are constructed and interpreted. Her practice includes Latent Image (2016–2018), an investigation into the interpretation of photographic images; Gime, and 49 Days (2017–2023), an exploration of Jeju’s shamanic culture; and the ongoing project Evidence: Testimony (2019– ), which centers on the Jeju 4.3 Incident. Kim also served as an editorial board member for 4.3 and Peace, the official journal of the Jeju 4.3 Peace Foundation (2020–2022).
